Report a Correction

Updated Editorial policy

Give the report a specific starting point

Use this form to report an incorrect figure, obsolete rule, broken source or calculator interaction on estatetaxtool.com. Select the page pathname and category, then describe the issue. A useful report identifies the date of death, the named input and the expected output using an anonymized example. Please provide a public agency or statute link if it explains the discrepancy. This lets us reproduce the problem without asking for your private estate records.

What should stay out of a report

Do not send tax returns, account numbers, Social Security numbers, beneficiary addresses, passwords, probate documents or an inventory that identifies a real family. You can replace personal values with a hypothetical example while preserving the calculation that fails. The worksheet itself does not transmit calculator amounts. Submitting this form is different: the text you choose to send becomes a record in our corrections database, along with the affected pathname and report category.

Optional replies

An email address is optional. Include one only if you want the publisher to be able to reply about the reported defect. It is saved with the report and is not subscribed to a marketing list by this form. You can submit without an address. The channel has no guaranteed response deadline and does not create a professional engagement. We cannot determine your return requirements, advise on a trust election or review an estate plan through a correction request.

After submission

A successful receipt means the report was accepted for storage; it does not mean the proposed legal interpretation was verified. We compare a report with primary sources and the model scope, reproduce software issues and update supported corrections. If the browser cannot reach the endpoint or storage fails, the form displays an error and preserves your text so you can retry. Duplicate submissions are unnecessary after a receipt. A hidden field that only automated senders fill in, and a check that the report was sent from a page of this site, keep out unrelated submissions.

Other ways to check a result

Before reporting a number, read the scope beside the worksheet and the calculation methodology. A gross estate, a taxable estate and a beneficiary net share are different inputs. A payment changes a balance due, while a credit can change liability itself. The source index connects each state with its official guidance. For a filing deadline or individualized tax position, contact the relevant revenue department or a qualified professional independently of this website.
